How We Produce Videos for Effective Marketing: From Planning to Promotion

At Turell Group, we produce a wide range of videos, from business profiles and social media content to advertisements and event videos. So, what can you expect when you come to us to create your video?

This is the first post in a three-part series that takes you behind the scenes of our video production process. We’ll also explain how to tell your brand story through video and why it’s important. Today, we’ll start with an overview, covering everything from pre-production to the finished product.

Preparation is Key

What’s the most essential part of video production? The answer is simple: planning.

“All successful videos start with successful planning,” says Kelli Warner, TG’s VP of Video. “It makes the entire process so much more seamless and inevitably gives us a better product.”

Before we pick up a camera, we pick up the phone or meet with you to lay the groundwork. Our first step is always a thorough discussion and deep dive to understand your needs, goals and vision, while also providing you with creative ideas.

We work hard to understand your business to ensure we carry out your vision through partnership and shared goals, aligning the message with your brand. The location, the people involved, and the content of the message are all deliberate.

“We ask a lot of questions,” Kelli says. “We want to fully understand your business, your audience, your product or service and what makes you stand out.”

To help everyone feel prepared, Video/Photo Production Manager Kate Doyle conducts pre-interviews with video subjects. “The key to successful production is minimizing surprises,” she says. “We go over all of the details to make sure everyone is comfortable when it’s time to step in front of the camera.”

During pre-production, we also set clear expectations about the number of deliverables and timelines, so you’ll always know what to expect and when.

With all of the planning in place, our goal is to make sure production day runs smoothly. We want everyone to feel at ease. Even if there are a few jitters, we’re there to help. We know cameras make people nervous, but the majority of people we work with tell us the experience was better than they expected.

Whether we’re filming at one location or several, we ensure everything is ready to go. We respect your time, and we’re always prepared to make the most of every minute on set.

Putting it All Together

When filming wraps up, that’s when the real magic happens. During post-production, we bring everything together by adding audio, music, graphics, animations, titles and any other elements that enhance the message.

After editing and internal reviews, we send the video to the client for review and approval. Once you’ve approved the final cut, we can also assist in publishing your video on the appropriate channels, be it a website, social media platforms or even TV.
