Maria Peters

Associate Director – Design & Culture / Media Maker

Maria likes to be busy and is a constant whirl of creative energy. The interest of our clients is always at the forefront of her work. She believes design is most effective when it communicates a clear and accessible message. “‘Maker’ is the word that most resonates with me because it goes beyond designer, artist, illustrator, photographer. Everything I do revolves around making something.”

Interests: Baking, cooking, reading, indoor/outdoor home projects, going for walks, binge-watching art vloggers

Fun facts: Maria grew up on a farm in Alsea, northwest of Eugene. She loves to give old things new life, such as repainting old furniture or updating her 1940s home. She likes to collect paper scraps and incorporate them into bookbinding projects or a mixed-media piece, and she’s constantly “treading that fine line between artist and hoarder.”

Education: B.S. in Art (photography) from University of Oregon, Associates in Graphic Design from LCC

Prior work experience: Siuslaw National Forest, where she got her first experiences in design, public affairs and interacting with the public, and Travel Lane County. Her positions at both taught her the importance of communicating clearly and providing accurate information.
